Thousands in Jewelry Stolen from South Tampa Home

The robbery occurred on Saturday night, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Sometime between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday a home at 5105 W. Platt Street was robbed, according to the Tampa Police Department. A suspect entered the house through the front door - possibly using a key, authorities said - since there were no signs of forced entry. The suspect opened drawers to make the home look like it had been ransacked, authorities said. Taken was a jewelry box with about $20,000 worth of jewelry in it. Anyone with information should call 813-231-6130.

Tampa Police Department Hosting 'Meet Me At The Park'

The free community event includes games, food and health screenings.

The Tampa Police Department's Police Athletic League is hosting "Meet Me At The Park" from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 23 at 1924 W. Diana Street. The event is part of the department's 25th annual black history celebration, and includes free admission, food, games, health screenings and vendors. Do you plan to go to the event? Residents Invited to Participate in Flash Mob to Promote Neighborhood Watch

The Tampa Police Department is seeking residents interested in creating a YouTube video promoting the Neighborhood Watch program.

Here's your chance to go viral. Tampa Police Department spokeswoman Janelle McGregor is looking for volunteers to participate in the creation of a YouTube video to promote the Neighborhood Watch program. The TPD is teaming up with radio station 93.3 FM to create a video based on the latest craze, the "Harlem Shake." "It's basically a flash mob where one person starts off doing a random dance and then the whole group joins in," said McGregor. "Don't worry, there's no choreography needed." The video will contain a public service message on fighting crime. "We thought this would be a fun and catchy way to showcase the Neighborhood Watch program and to hopefully get more residents like yourselves involved in the fight against crime," said …
