Bicycle Safety Summit on April 11 at Tampa Convention Center

The Southeast Regional Bicycle Safety Summit will be held at the Tampa Convention Center.

Attention, Seminole Heights bicycle riders: The U.S. Department of Transportation and the City of Tampa are hosting the Southeast Regional Bicycle Safety Summit on April 11. The free event at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Hundreds of folks gathered by the Hillsborough Bay on Bayshore Boulevard, Davis Islands and Harbour Island to watch the Special Operations Forces' mock attack on South Tampa on Wednesday, May 23. Tampa National College Fair Set for Sunday

College-bound students are encouraged to attend the event in downtown.

From Tampa Downtown Partnership: The Tampa National College Fair is Sunday, Feb. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S. Franklin St.  The event, open to all college-bound students, will feature more than 150 college representatives to answer questions and provide information about their colleges' academic programs. Although the event is free, prior registration is recommended to make navigating the fair and collecting information from multiple colleges and universities much easier for students. By registering, students can print a bar-coded confirmation to be used on-site at the fair as an electronic ID. Click here for more information and to register.

5 Things to Do This Weekend

1. Bring your favorite treasures to be evaluated at the Henry B. Plant Museum, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Folks can bring a limit of four items and each evaluation is $5. If furniture is too large, you may bring a good photograph. Parking is free in front of the building and in the staff and faculty lot to the rear of the building. 2. What's Your Talent?

Patch hung out with America's Got Talent contestants and asked them to show off their flair while they waited in line outside the Tampa Convention Center to audition for the NBC show on Nov. 12.

Thousands of hopefuls waited outside the Tampa Convention Center to audition for the seventh season of America's Got Talent on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13. The downtown Tampa auditions for the NBC show drew contestants from all over the country. Some drove down from Savannah, GA, while others flew in from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Although doors did not open until 8.00 a.m., young and not-so-young, talented and not-so-talented performers lined up outside the venue for a shot at fame starting at 5 a.m., a security guard said while directing the line of aspirant stars outside the building at 333 S Franklin St. on Nov. 12. Candidates won't know if they made until January 2012. The seventh season of the show is scheduled to air in the summer of 2012. …

Flugtag Set to Fly by Convention Center

Three years ago, Red Bull's Flugtag attracted more than 100,000 spectators to the downtown area and on Saturday, the energy drink giant will attempt to do it again.

Splashing into the waters of downtown Tampa doesn't normally sound appealing, but for the sake of contest and show, hundreds will do it on Saturday. Red Bull's infamous Flugtag competition graced the Tampa Convention Center in July of 2008 and garnered large crowds to watch homemade aircrafts crash into the mirky waters. The event returns this year to once again offer competitors a chance to entertain as long as they're willing to make the plunge. "That water isn't the cleanest so it should be interesting going in," pilot of team Stumble Force's Android phone themed craft James Bell said.
