President Barack Obama has carried Hillsborough County for the second election in a row.
The results are in and Hillsborough County has named its choice for the White House. President Barack Obama has taken the county with 52.63 percent of the vote. A total of 277,432 ballots were cast in Obama’s favor within Hillsborough County. Republican challenger Gov. Mitt Romney came in second with 243,323 ballots cast in his favor, which works out to 46.16 percent. A total of 527,169 votes were cast in the presidential race in Hillsborough, according to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Election Office. While Obama won’t gain any precious electoral votes from Hillsborough County alone, he can say he carried the county. Sharon Vollrath came to Wednesday's Mitt Romney rally to hear what he had to say about health care.
South Tampa resident Sharon Vollrath is fed up with the high cost of health insurance. Under President Barack Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, Vollrath said her daughter's student health insurance at Fordham University in New York City increased by $700 this year. "It's ridiculous," she said. "My daughter is 21 years old and has no existing health problems." On the other end of the spectrum, Vollrath is the caretaker for her 85-year-old mother. "She has COPD (a lung disease), rheumatoid arthritis and is completely crippled," said Vollrath. Tampa Bay area residents hoping to hear from former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney before the election are in luck. The Romney campaign has announced it will make a stop in Tampa on Wednesday, October 31. According to Romney's campaign, he and Congressman Connie Mack both will appear at Landmark Aviation, 2450 N. Westshore Boulevard, Tampa, at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday for a rally. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. for area residents who have a ticket. In order to get a ticket, you can register online or pick up a ticket at the campaign's state headquarters, 302 Knights Run Ave., in Tampa. Those attending can expect to go through airport-like security, according to the Romney campaign. Stay with Patch for updates on the rally.

It is estimated the crowd for Gov. Mitt Romney's rally in Land O' Lakes topped 15,000 people.
Jim Cummins arrived at Land O’ Lakes High School hours before former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney took the stage at the school stadium Oct. 27.
