Time to Plan Your New Year's Eve Celebration

All my shopping is done, presents wrapped and I’m just waiting for Christmas to come.  With New Year’s just around the corner, I’m already looking for ways to celebrate.    We don’t have any New Year’s Eve traditions in our family.  We tend to stay close to home and console our puggle who is terrified of fireworks.  As she’s gotten older, her fear has subsided and we may even venture out this year.  A few local restaurants are offering special New Year’s Eve menus that I would absolutely LOVE to check out.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is offering their New Year’s Menu for four nights (December 28-31).  The New Year’s menu features three luxe entrées; all include a delectable shrimp appetizer (Fleming’s a la carte menu also served).  They’ve also introduced two special Holiday Cocktails - Haute Holiday ($10.95) and the Merry Mint Spice ($11.95).  The restaurant is located at 4322 West Boy Scout Boulevard in Tampa.

          Poached Gulf Shrimp over Southern-Style Goat Cheese Grits

          Fleming’s New Year’s Menu Entrees

          Delmonico Steak with Blue Crab & Gruyère Glassage, shaved black truffles, served with bacon-wrapped, braised leeks and balsamic reduction $74.95

          Filet Mignon & Lobster-Brioche Bread Pudding on roasted asparagus, lemon beurre blanc and, lobster reduction sauces, black truffle shavings $69.95

          Lobster Tail with Mac & Cheese, one pound east coast lobster tail, split and roasted with champagne, sage and lemon butter, served with Italian bacon mac & cheese $79.00

          Fleming’s New Year’s Dessert           

          Chocolate Budino, rich chocolate tartlet, chevre-salted whipped cream, and cocoa nibs $9.95

Carmel Café & Wine Bar is also featuring a multi-course New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe Menu for $29.95 per person (available 12/31 only).  All of the Mod Med small and large plates offered year round are also available New Year’s Eve.

          First Course: Mod Med 2013 Sampler, a delicious variety of award-winning Mediterranean small plates

          Second Course (Choice of one):

                Lobster Bisque, kissed with Amontillado Spanish sherry

                Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella Salad with fresh baby arugula

                House Field Greens Salad or Black Olive Caesar Salad

           Third Course (Choice of one):

                Short Rib Rossini with Black Truffle Foie Gras Mousse

                Veal Ossobuco slow-braised in natural jus, topped with orange gremolata and served with grilled polenta cake

                New York Strip Steak, 10-ounces of Certified Angus Beef served with parsnip mashed and topped with portabella Madera sauce

                Cold Water Lobster Tails (two), steamed and paired with Carmel Crab Cake and warm butter

               Parmesan Crusted Holland Sole, lightly sautéed with lemon caper butter sauce
