How South Tampa Schools Did In State Grades

Public school grades for 2012 have been released for Hillsborough County at the elementary and middle school level with the majority of South Tampa schools holding their place in the standards.

had been issued to parents to expect a drop in the school's grade to reflect the heightened standards, but in all of South Tampa, only two schools saw a decline in their grade while two others improved and the other nine public schools in the area remained the same.

“Many of our schools are celebrating today,” said Hillsborough County School Board Superintendent MaryEllen Elia. “We knew that the raised standards would have an impact. Despite the fact that we are in a transition year, most of our schools earned A or B, half of our schools maintained their grade, and several improved their grade. That’s a direct result of the hard work of our students and teachers.”
