Plant Football Coach Weiner to Lead All-Star Squad

Fresh off last month's , Plant High football coach Robert Weiner will be back on the sidelines this weekend.

Weiner is the head coach of the East squad in this year's U.S. Army All-American Bowl, a high school all-star game to be played this Saturday, Jan. 7, in San Antonio. The game, which will be televised at 1 p.m. on NBC, features some of the nation's top players, many of whom will announce their college commitments during the game.

Weiner told the Tampa Bay Times he considers the head coaching nod in the All-American game — and its affiliation with the Army — to be "the greatest honor of my career."

Joining Weiner on the East squad's coaching staff will be assistant T.J. Lane, who coaches the Panthers' wide receivers, the Times reports.

Plant High won its fourth state title last month, beating Miramar 31-20 in Orlando.
