Deadline to Register for Presidential Preference Primary Is Today

You have until 5 p.m. today, Jan. 3.

From the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections:

Today, Jan. 3, marks the registration deadline for voters who wish to cast a ballot in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary. New voter and change of party registrations must either bear today's postmark, or be delivered to any elections office by 5 p.m.

Florida is a "closed primary" state so voters must be registered members of a political party to vote for that party's candidate. In the Jan. 31 election, voters must be registered members of the Republican Party to be eligible to vote for the Republican Party's presidential nominee. (There is no contested Democratic primary this year.)

Any citizen who wishes to register to vote or update their information, may do so at any Supervisor of Elections office, public library such as the New Tampa branch on Cross Creek Boulevard, or driver's license office.

Electors who have already registered with the Republican Party do not need to re-register, but are encouraged to visit www.VoteHillsborough.org and click on the "My Registration Status" tab to check the accuracy of their voting information.
