Charlie Crist Takes Shot at Rick Scott In First Televised Campaign Ad

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist takes a jab at current governor Rick Scott in his first televised ad of the campaign season.

Charlie Crist released his first ad of the 2014 election season, taking a shot at Gov. Rick Scott.

In the new ad entitled “Sunshine,” the Tampa Bay native touts his record as the state’s governor from 2007 until 2011.

In “Sunshine," Crist also pledges to raise the state minimum wage, currently at $7.93, “demand equal pay for women,” and to restore funding for public schools.

The latter pledge is a jab at Gov. Scott, who cut more than $1 billion in public education funding in his first year in office in 2011, according to Politifact Florida.

Crist declined a bid for a second term as governor in 2010 when he ran for the U.S. Senate against Marco Rubio.

The Republican-turned-Democrat is expected to go head-to-head against Scott in the November gubernatorial election slated for Nov. 4, but first must win a state Democratic primary.

Scott will compete against Florida's former Democrat leader Nan Rich in a statewide primary scheduled for August 26.
