Bradenton Man Spars With Town Over Patriotic House

'Merica: Don't tread on this man.

Don’t tread on this guy! A Tampa Bay man is in dispute with his town over painting his home in the colors of the American flag.

Brent Greer is your everyday American man: great beard, wife, nine children and owner of “Turfinator Lawn Specialist,” according to Florida corporate records.

The “Turfinator” received a code enforcement complaint in February about a Christmas tree left on his front stoop, Bay News 9 reported. Greer promptly removed the tree to avoid a fine.

But that wasn’t the end of it.

The city sent him notice of several more violations, and he had had enough of big government intervention. Greer, his wife Catherine and those nine kids — seven of them adopted — painted the house the colors of the American flag.

“He says that the soffits are not painted to the city standard, and I’m like, ‘well, there’s a thing called the Constitution,’” Greer told The Bradenton Herald.

Although the Riverview Boulevard neighbors who reported him had a problem with his home, one neighbor in particular takes Greer’s side.

“I admire his patriotism and, in my opinion, I see nothing wrong with how the house has been painted,” neighbor Chris Grumley told Patch via Twitter.

Greer is expected to stand before Bradenton’s code enforcement board at its monthly meeting, scheduled for June 17.
