Police: Teen Steals Woman's Cell Phone at Hixon Park

Two teens were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the theft of a cell phone at Curtis Hixon Park on Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa, according to a report from the Tampa Police Department.

Around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a woman was sitting along the river holding the phone in her right hand, police say, when one of the teens approached her and snatched the phone, fleeing on foot.

Another teen appeared to be a "lookout," police say. Both fled over the Cass Street Bridge toward North Boulevard Homes, police say, and were spotted on video police obtained from the Tampa Museum of Art before the theft.

The victim identified the teen who stole her phone as a 17-year-old Tampa resident. Both the 17-year-old and a 14-year-old who police say was with him were taken into police custody. They both faces charges of robbery by sudden snatching, according to TPD officials.
