South Tampa Publisher Allegedly Committed Suicide, Police Say

Tampa Epoch publisher Bill Sharpe allegedly committed suicide Monday, April 2, according to Tampa Police.

Detectives are investigating the death of a South Tampa publisher, according to a Tampa Police press release.

Bill Sharpe allegedly committed suicide Monday morning, April 2, at his business in North Hyde Park, police say. Sharpe was 59.

An employee found Sharpe when he arrived at work at about 9:07 a.m. Monday, according to the release.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause of death, the release said.

For the last seven years, Sharpe was the publisher of South Tampa Community News and , a street newspaper for the homeless, last November, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
