Police Investigating Crash That Closed Twiggs Street

The accident was this morning.

Tampa police are investigating a crash that closed Twiggs Street in downtown Tampa this morning.

The incident occurred just before 8 a.m., and police are examining closed-circuit cameras and video from local businesses to figure out who was at fault.

Peter Mitchell, 50, of 5246 Strike the Gold Lane in Wesley Chapel, was headed southbound on Ashley Drive on his motorcycle. A 1987 Toyota pickup truck driven by Kenneth moore, 54, of 3202 South Tacon Street Apt. B in Tampa, was traveling northbound on Ashley Drive and headed into the intersection of Twiggs Street East.

Mitchell was thrown from the motorcycle and taken to Tampa General Hospital. Moore was issued a ticket for an expired driver's license.
