Motorcyclist Dies After Falling 30 Feet from I-4 Overpass

The accident happened at about 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.

A motorcyclist died Sunday after falling 30 feet from the Interstate 4 overpass onto Interstate 275.

The man, a resident of Danmai, Denmark, was driving westbound on I-4 in the inside lane approaching I-275 when he attempted to change lanes to the right at the curve of the I-4 at the junction, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At that point, the man lost control of his motorcycle and drove off the roadway onto the north paved shoulder then collided with the concrete barrier wall. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and went over the wall, falling more than 30 feet below to the southbound shoulder of I-275, according to an FHP report.

The motorcycle remained upright and crossed westbound lanes of I-4 before colliding with the inside guardrail, the report stated.

The driver died at the scene. His identity is not being released until next of kin are notified.
