House Fire on South Manhattan Ave

A lit candle caused about $75,000 in damage at the South Manhattan Avenue house.

Tampa Fire Rescue units responded at 8:17 a.m. this morning to a house fire at 3105 S. Manhattan Avenue. Fire crews arrived on scene within three minutes, and the fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes.

No firefighter or civilian injuries reported.

Investigator Mike Zurla with the Tampa Fire Marshal said the fire was caused by a candle left on a wicker patio table late Saturday night.

The owners of the home told investigators there was a lit candle on the table Saturday night. They said they were awoken Sunday morning by the family dog barking. When they awoke, they discovered the fire on the back porch.

Damages as a result of this fire were estimated at $75,000 dollars.
