The men and women of the Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue share much in common, all of them putting their lives on the line each day to help people stay safe.
But this Saturday, May 6, they'll be pitted against each other for a good cause.
Tampa's police officers (aka the "Gladiators") and firefighters (team "Firestorm") will square off in Badge Bowl IX, an annual flag football game that raises money and spreads awareness about children's cancer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham and Bucs legend Derrick Brooks will host pregame activities — including food, music, raffles and visits from police and fire rescue vehicles — from 10 to noon Saturday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, 401 Channelside Dr.
That will be followed by a parade and medal ceremony featuring local childhood cancer patients and their siblings, and then the flag football game, which kicks off at 1:20 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 kids. All proceeds benefit the 1Voice Foundation.
