A longtime South Tampa jeweler has died, TBO.com reports.

Alvin Lee Magnon, the owner of Alvin Magnon Jewelers, 606 S. Dale Mabry Hwy., was 84.

Magnon began working in the jewelry business in 1948, TBO reports, passing the business onto his daughter six years ago.

Magnon's store was originally founded in 1880 in Lakeland before relocating to downtown Tampa and then on West Shore Boulevard before moving to South Dale Mabry about 24 years ago, according to TBO.

Magnon was a Plant High School graduate.
