3 Easy Tips For the Perfect Mother's Day Entertaining

Tip #1: Make Mom #1

It is mom’s special day. Make sure you are actually doing what SHE wants to do rather than what you assume she would like to do.

-          Breakfast in bed may be YOUR idea of heaven but Mom may not want crumbs in her sheets.

-          Brunch is a nice option, giving her time to sleep in while still spending time with loved ones.

-          Base the menu on what Mom loves to eat and drink.

Tip #2: Plan Ahead

Once you know she would love to celebrate with a brunch, now is the time to make a plan and write down a list of things you will need to be ready.

-          Select your time, location and menu. Will you prepare it all or pick up a few of the side items.

-          Create a checklist for everything you need to set up or shop for leading up to the big day.

-          Set your table the day before. Recruit grandchildren to help and make it extra special.

Tip #3: Personal touches = the perfect table.

Think back to when you were in grade school and you made a “family” portrait with finger paints and mom hung it on the fridge? When you start to stress out, remember those times and that she loves you no matter what your table looks like.

-          Think outside the box when it comes to your table:

                o   Use collected family pictures to decorate

                o   Dry Mom’s favorite flowers to use in vases, then she can use them in her home

                o   Have grandkids draw pictures of their favorite memories on a tablecloth to become a keepsake

-          Select one theme, such as mom’s favorite color, to create unity on the decor

-          Reduce questions by printing out menus for each guest on your home printer

Bonus Tip:

-          When in doubt: Go back to beginning, Mom is #1.
