County Health Department Hosting World AIDS Day Event

The event will be held on Friday, and offer free HIV and STD testing.

The Hillsborough County Health Department will host its 8th Annual World AIDS Day event at the Hillsborough County Health Department, 1105 E. Kennedy Boulevard, on Friday, December 7 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In recognition of World AIDS Day, the Hillsborough County Health Department
will be offering free HIV and STD testing and confidential counseling, as well as educational classes that will be offered throughout the day.

World AIDS Day links communities across the globe in an international effort
to draw attention to HIV/AIDS. Observance of this day provides an opportunity
for governments, AIDS programs, churches, community organizations and
individuals to demonstrate the importance of the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Current estimates indicate nearly 40 million people have HIV/AIDS worldwide
estimates reveal nearly 100,000 people in Florida live with AIDS.
