GulfShore Bank Welcomes Redstone Investments’ Jonathan Levy to Board of Directors

GulfShore Bank, headquartered in downtown Tampa, Fla., announced the addition of Jonathan Levy to its Board of Directors, effective February 19, 2014.

According to GulfShore Bank CEO and president, Joseph Caballero, Levy’s experience in industry and on other boards will add to an already robust board of directors.

“We take great care in selecting our board members,” Caballero explains, “and Jonathan Levy’s experience and perspective will complement our existing board strengths perfectly. We’re looking forward to his informed contributions to our board.”

“I am looking forward to serving on the GulfShore Bank Board,” Levy said. “The management team consists of proven leaders in the market and the Board is a strong group of local business leaders.”

Levy is a co-founder and managing partner of Redstone Investments, located at 1501 W. Cleveland Street in Tampa.

He has been involved in the real estate and construction industry for more than 30 years, and started his career with Burdman Bros, a family owned real estate construction and property Management Company. In 1983, he joined Marine Midland Bank as a commercial real estate lender. He spent five years with Marine Midland in Washington, D.C as a lender on large scale commercial real estate projects.

In 1987, Levy and his cousin Lee Burdman started JLB Investments, which in 1991 became Redstone Investments. Redstone, headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio, is a development, management and acquisitions company with a focus on shopping center development. Redstone’s portfolio comprises over four million square feet of commercial real estate located in 15 states. In addition to real estate development projects, Redstone focuses on tenant representation for several national retailers.

In 2005, Levy relocated to Tampa, expanding the Redstone portfolio to include Redstone Commercial LLC, the firm’s commercial real estate brokerage and asset management services firm. Redstone Commercial is focused on third-party brokerage and property management assignments.

In 2011, Redstone Funding, LLC was formed to purchase notes and pools of notes from financial institutions. All related Redstone entities now employ more than 25 people in the Tampa Bay market.

 

Levy currently serves on the Board of Directors of Huntington Bancshares Inc. (NASDAQ: HBAN). He is on the company’s Executive and Risk Oversight committees. Prior to his current board seat with Huntington, Levy served on the board of Sky Financial (which was acquired by Huntington in 2007) for eight years, five of which he held the role of Lead Director. In addition, Levy has served on the boards of two other publicly traded bank holding companies and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Simco Management Corp.

Levy received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Syracuse University in 1982.

He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Real Estate Investment Council in Tampa and the University of Florida, Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies, Advisory Board. He is President and Founding Board Member of the Hillsborough County Lacrosse Alliance, HALAX, Inc. Over the years he has served on numerous community non-profit boards including Positive Coaching Alliance Tampa Bay – (PCA) Board of Directors, the Youngstown Business Incubator – Board of Directors (1997-2003) and the Tampa Preparatory School.

Levy and his family reside in Tampa, Florida.
