Food Truck Square Debuts Tonight

The grand opening party will feature music, beer and several of your favorite food trucks.

Don’t miss the grand opening of the Food Truck Square tonight, Feb. 23.

Food Truck Square, located at 1901 W. Platt St. next to Monstah Lobstah seafood restaurant, is now the almost permanent home of some of your favorite food trucks.

Expect up to five trucks parked there seven days a week for lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“It’s extremely exciting,” said Ashley Crone, who owns the Burger Culture food truck with partner Gabe Sandoval.

The venture is the brainchild of the couple, who “really wanted to get something permanent in South Tampa.”

Besides Burger Culture, the initial group of food trucks includes Mr. Empanada, Tasty Stacy, Wicked 'Wiches, and The Killer Samich Truck with more food trucks expected to join in the future.

Although these are the dominant trucks, they will not always be there. Crone said that if a food truck travels to a different spot or event for a day, it will be replaced by another truck at the square.

Folks can enjoy a beer with their meal, as brews can be purchased at the adjacent Monstah Lobstah.

Tonight’s event is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will also feature Maggie on the Move, Fat Tortillas Southwest Grill, Fire Monkey, Sinful Pleasure Dessert Co. and Whatever Pops. A DJ will be there, too.
