Crave Nail Salon Offers Manis, Pedis and Mimosas

The salon is at 3211 W. Bay to Bay Boulevard in south Tampa.

Comfy chocolate-colored seats and baby-blue walls welcome customers to Crave Nail Spa in south Tampa on busy Bay to Bay Boulevard. A life-sized chalkboard on a back wall is used to promote specials like seasonal pedicures.

The business at 3211 W. Bay to Bay Boulevard is owned by south Tampa resident Joezette Hite. We recently caught up with her to talk about the nail scene in Tampa, what her business offers and why she chose south Tampa to open her doors.

On her background: "I have been raised in Tampa my whole life. I went to Christ the King and Plant (High). When I graduated from FSU, I knew my home base would be back in Tampa near my parents."

How she chose south Tampa as a location: "For the convenience, with having kids. But even more so, it seems like everybody is up on the latest trends here. I thought they'd be more apt to accept something brand new. It’s a completely different concept for a nail salon. We specialize in products that are toxic-free. We don’t use the whirlpool. We bring bowls directly to them."

On nail trends she's noticed in Tampa Bay: "We have one extreme to the opposite ... We had a southern older woman who came in, and she noticed a lot of women were getting nail art for Gasparilla. She stepped out of her box and got a pattern. We are noticing a lot of women, if it's not all of their nails, it’s (color on) the ring finger."

What sets Crave apart from other businesses: "I would say the service, and also our quality of what they are going to experience. Everything here is extremely sanitized. We almost know our regulars by their first name when they walk in. On Saturday and Sunday when they are busy, when we see a regular who needs to get in, we stay the extra hours to accommodate them."

Crave is open Tuesday-Friday from 10am-6pm, Saturday from 10am-5pm and 11am-4pm on Sundays, when complimentary mimosas are served to customers. The business is closed on Mondays. Call 813-837-2600 for more information.
