National Night Out

Exciting News! Historic Hyde Park's first National Night out, a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Kate Jackson Community Center.

Hyde Park has been chosen as one of the featured neighborhoods by the Tampa Police Department to hold one of these events. National Night Out involves citizens, law enforcement, civic groups and businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials in our community. Since 1984, "National Night Out - America's Night Out Against Crime" has grown to involve over 34 million people from more than 10,000 communities. National Night Out is designed to:

Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
General support for, and participation in local anti-crime programs
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships
Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Tampa Police Department will be on hand to engrave valuables and a fire engine will be on display from the Tampa Fire Rescue, so bring your bikes, your kids and your neighbors!

This year National Night Out is once again sponsored by Target. Other businesses in our area are encourged to participate with food and door prizes, and many other agencies are bringing goodies and information as well.
