South Tampa Pump House Disguised as Newly Constructed Home
Flooding is an ongoing issue in South Tampa, but residents along Bayshore Avenue are receiving help from a new project.
The City of Tampa is stepping up its flood defense for South Tampa in style.
With the construction of what will appear on the outside to be a bungalow style home at 2921 Alline Avenue between Bayshore Boulevard and MacDill Avenue, the city is putting into place a pump station that will pump thousands of gallons of stormwater into Tampa Bay.
An ABC Action News report on Monday highlighted the project and collected the reactions of local residents who will benefit from the construction.

The City of Tampa posted an announcement about the house on its Facebook page and asked local residents to weigh in as to whether they would like to see one in their neighborhood. The response, thus far, has been unanimous.
"Yes, a pump station is needed on Davis Island," a Facebook user named Steven Berg said.

"If this works, we should see these in MANY neighborhoods. Last week during the rains, virtually every side street had flooding issues!" another user named Chuck Palm said.
