Hyde Park Church to Offer Help for Homeless

Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 500 W. Platt St., Tampa, will host its 2013 Homeless Stand Down and Health Fair Friday, June 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will provide the homeless with housing and health care resources that are available.  

At the same time, the church will continue a military tradition of a “stand down” by providing homeless men, women and children with food, clothing, showers, health screenings and a safe place to rest with the goal of helping them get off the streets.

In addition to bringing all these services to one location, there will be representatives from the Veterans Administration and other veteran organizations on hand to assist homeless veterans with obtaining their VA benefits, and local and state agencies to assist all homeless individuals with obtaining other mainstream benefits.
