Photo Gallery: Gasparilla Invades Bayshore

Pictures from the crowd that enveloped Bayshore on Saturday afternoon.

The Tampa tradition of Gasparilla invaded South Tampa once again on Saturday, Jan. 28, drawing thousands dressed like pirates to its streets.

The invasion and parade have been celebrated since 1904 and are an anxiously awaited part of the calendar for everyone involved because of the atmosphere, debauchery and fraternising.

"My favorite part is meeting different people, especially the men," Juli Delgiorno of the Bonnie Reade all-female Krewe said. "Why do men like Gasparilla so much? Women. The door swings both ways."
