5 Things to Do with the Family This Weekend

Here's a roundup of events for the whole family.

1. To celebrate Tampa’s 150th birthday, the Tampa Bay Sesquicentennial Commission will present a 1860’s brass band concert, a ceremony and flag presentation, and living history performances. Event runs Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. downtown at Poe Plaza (between Tampa City Center and the Hyatt Hotel).

2. Kids ages 7 to 15 can learn the basics of photography at a Saturday workshop hosted by the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. Students may borrow a digital camera from the museum if they do not have a camera. Workshops runs from 10:30 to noon.

3. Enjoy a free outdoor yoga class Sunday at Yoga in the Park. Geared toward all fitness levels, the 6 p.m. class will be held in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. Bring a mat and a water bottle.

4. Join Hyde Park United Methodist Church to clean up Ballast Point Park for the 26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday. Remove trash and debris from the park’s shoreline as other organizations do the same throughout the world. Meet at 7:45 a.m. at the church to carpool and return around noon. 5. This weekend The Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) opens its new exhibit, "Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause," which looks at the costs and consequences of illegal drugs. Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Price: $16.95 to $23.95. Tickets: Buy Tickets.
