3 Florida Cities Named Least Walkable in America

A new  study by George Washington University’s School of Business reveals what many Tampa residents already know: our metro area isn’t very pedestrian friendly.

Tampa ranked No. 3 among the nation’s least walkable cities in the report “Foot Traffic Ahead,” according to Bay News 9.  The study considered such things as population, the amount of retail and office space and the number of pedestrian friendly “walkup” areas. Orlando was named the worst area in the country and Miami ranked eighth.

The most pedestrian-friendly locations are Washington, D.C., New York and Boston, the report concluded.

Tampa is also one of the nation’s deadliest cities for pedestrians. The Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ranked the second most dangerous in the country in a report issued by the National Complete Streets Coalition in May 2014, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
