'Art On The Water' Comes to Harbour Island This Weekend

This free family-friendly event will showcase more than 80 local artists.

News Report: Jackson’s Bar and Bistro will host Tampa Bay’s sixth ‘Art on the Water’ event on Sunday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event was originally scheduled for April, but was canceled due to rain. This Sunday, ‘Art on the Water’ will take place at its new location on Harbour Island’s water-walk next to Jackson’s, and will feature more than 80 local artists, live music and several businesses supporting local art. The first ‘Art on the Water’ event took place July 2011. Tampa artist Brian Taylor came up with the idea for ‘Art on the Water’ after witnessing year after year that the fine art shows always seemed to be taking place across the bridge in St. Petersburg. Event Will Spotlight Elementary Artists and Musicians

The 22nd Annual Elementary Fine Arts Festival will take place at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, May 16.

From Hillsborough County Public Schools: More than 700 fourth and fifth grade art and music students from public schools across the county will showcase their talents at the 22nd Annual Elementary Fine Arts Festival at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Pl., beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16. The Morsani Hall lobby will open at 6:30 p.m. for the student artwork gallery. At 7 p.m., music students from around the county will participate in a variety of performances including a festival orchestra, handbell choir, three regional choruses, Orff ensemble, world drumming, and a finale of all ensembles. ‘Eclectic’ Business Puts Art on the Walls

A launch party takes place May 23 at Wimauma in South Tampa.

Pat Sanchez isn’t an artist, but she has a passion for helping those with talent show off what they can do. She also loves helping promote local businesses. That’s why Sanchez launched Everything Eclectic. The new business brings artists, businesses and nonprofits together in what Sanchez hopes will be a perfect marriage for all three. Everything Eclectic works with local artists to promote their works at local businesses. Venues, such as restaurants, that host the artwork are able to promote the sale of the works and they also gain exposure and business from social events that Sanchez’s company stages. Free Admission for Moms at the Tampa Bay History Center this Sunday

The Tampa Bay History Center will celebrate Mother’s Day with free admission for moms with one paid admission on Sunday, May 13.

Submitted by Manny Leto: The Tampa Bay History Center will celebrate Mother’s Day with free admission for moms with one paid admission on Sunday, May 13, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. To commemorate the day, the History Center will offer arts and crafts for kids in the Lykes Atrium and a 15 percent discount in the Museum Store on select items. Moms and families are encouraged to visit the museum and dine at the waterfront Columbia Cafe located inside the History Center. The Cafe features both indoor and outdoor seating. The Florida Orchestra to Perform at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park Tonight

Grab a blanket and picnic dinner and head to downtown tonight.

News Report: The Florida Orchestra will perform a free Pops in the Park Concert in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa at 7.30 p.m. Thursday, May 3. The orchestra will offer a program of familiar symphonic favorites including Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus and Eljen a Magyar Polka, and a waltz from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. The concert also includes selections from My Fair Lady and The Phantom of the Opera, along with John Williams' Superman March and Tchaikovsky's explosive 1812 Overture. Steven Byess will conduct.
