The location at 1818 West Platt Street has sat empty over the last few years, waiting for a tenant to come along and do something with this prime real estate.
A company called Fonte Properties have owned the 1,766 square foot building since 1996 according to Loopnet.com, but have not kept a steady tenant with SOHO Pizza Joint closing its doors in 2009. The building sits within feet of popular night spots Hyde Park Cafe and The Rack and is now available for lease.
There has been speculation that the Zudar family, who sold their deli a few miles west in 2008 could move into the building after their attempts to move into the South Howard building that became World of Beer failed. Like that building, the former SOHO Pizza Joint is under the rule of local business man Tommy Ortiz. Despite the rumors and the wasted real estate burdening the landlord, the signs noting its vacancy remain intact.
So, we want to know your opinion. What would you like to see fill this long vacant location that borders the SOHO district? Perhaps a deli is just what you had in mind or would you like to see a different type of eatery or bar in this location? Tell us in the comments section below.

bring back Antipasto- was in that location before the pizza place. Dwight and lauren had an awesome little place.
I contacted Trader Joe's. Can you believe they are opening in Naples before considering Tampa?

I think Trader Joe's is already in Sarasota---what's wrong with Tampa?
