Tornado Spotted; Minimal Damage From Channelside Drive to Davis Islands

Severe weather moved through South Tampa on Tuesday.

Scattered debris and tree branches peppered parts of downtown Tampa today as severe weather moved through Tampa Bay.

A tornado hit a hotel downtown and damaged its roof and awnings, while a waterspout formed near Davis Islands, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

In addition, traffic signals were out on Adamo Drive from 34th Street to 40th Street, said Ali Glisson, spokeswoman for the City of Tampa.

No injuries were reported, Glisson said. All reported damage between Channelside and Davis Islands was minimal, Glisson said.

While the rain is projected to subside, a cold front is expected to move through Tampa Bay this weekend bringing below-freezing temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
