Platt St Bridge Forum Held in South Tampa

Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa will hold a community open house to discuss the October closing of the Platt Street Bridge.

Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa will host a Community Information Open House Meeting on Monday, Aug. 22, to discuss the upcoming closure of the Platt Street Bridge. The 6 p.m. open house will be held at the Kate Jackson Recreation Center, 821 South Rome Ave., in South Tampa.

Residents will be able to hear a briefing and visit information stations to find alternate commuting options. Residents will also have the opportunity to give their comments at the open house.

The Bridge closure is scheduled to begin in October 2011 and is scheduled to last 105 days. The closure is part of the required rehabilitation of the bridge to allow the contractor to open the drawbridge and perform replacement work on its components.
