Obama vs. Romney: Who Has Your Vote?

With Election Day just a week away, we want to hear from you!

Next week at this time people throughout the United States will turn out at the polls to have their say on who occupies the Oval Office for the next four years.

With the election just around the corner, we wanted to check in with you, Tampa Bay, to see who has your support for the job. Will you vote for President Barack Obama to retain his seat? Is Gov. Mitt Romney your man? Maybe you’re throwing your support behind a third-party candidate?

Whatever the case, we want to hear your thoughts.

Back on Oct. 1, we asked you the same questions. In our unofficial poll of Patch readers, Romney took the lead. Out of 296 votes cast in our poll, the former Massachusetts governor took 169, or 57 percent of the vote. Obama had 115 votes cast in his favor, or 38 percent. Twelve people, or 4 percent, said they were voting for another candidate

In light of all the commercials, telemarketing and personal candidate visits by both Obama and Romney, we want to know if you’d vote the same way today? Have your answers changed from earlier in the month or are you still standing behind your original choices?

Let us know by voting in the poll below or commenting on this story. We want to hear from you!

  • Obama vs. Romney: Who’s Your Man?

(Voting has been closed for this question)
    • President Barack Obama

    • Gov. Mitt Romney

    • A third-party candidate

For the sake of our Country please vote for Mitt Romney.
Forget your party affiliations. Just look at what President Obama is really like.
Check out the truth about the recent murder of our Ambassador and three other people. Really open your mind and ask yourself. Is his the kind of administration I want to have for another 4 years. One that allows the murder of 4 Americans and then lies about it and continues to lie to this day.
Vote for the country to survive.
Vote for Mitt Romney

I am 70. Voted in every election since I was of age to do so. Some Presidents I have liked and some not so much. But I have never hated a candidate going in but I hate Romneys guts! I can not stand a liar and Romney has lied about everything as if he can't be checked out.

He has lied about being a good Governor, lied about creating jobs when he has cost us jobs, lied about Medicare, lied about Social Security, lied about Chysler, lied about his plan covering pre-existing conditions, lied about "saving" the Olympics............on and on and on.

He got Federal money of between 400-600 million that saved the Olympics. It sure wasn't him. Romney won't be happy today because Gov Christie is praising Obama to the roof tops.

Maybe we need to wait for the investigation on the Libya before we start spouting out what is the "truth". I would rather wait for the facts to be found. How many "truths" were out before facts were investigated. Please stop politicizing this event. You don't know what happened and none of the talking heads on either side do either.

I am voting for the country to survive. That's why I am voting Obama. For the sake of our seniors, for the sake of our women and children, for the sake of the sick, the poor and those who don't have rich parents to send them to school or set them up in business. For love of America I am voting and I hope that Obama rips the GOP a new one for cutting the funding which resulted in the murder of those 4 Americans. And I want a President who believes in America over any Church, who doesn't wear magic underwear and who doesn't have beliefs which would make any sane Christian cringe! I have a heck of a lot more reasons to vote for America and for Obama then I see you have for voting for Romney.

Sorry DLC I voted for Romney In Mass and saw what I got. Maybe you would like to see how he handled disasters or helped our state. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/29/mitt-romney-disaster-response-massachusetts-_n_2041142.html You do realize he wants to do away with FEMA..bet the flood program is another gov't waste of money for him too! God help us in Florida if he does! This is a great article, nonpartisan on his record in Mass. http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2012/09/05/governor-romney-faced-similar-economic-situation-obama-with-similar-results/cfq5gCjleJzD1uJhnxrPYN/story.html So been there done that, and actually when my real estate taxes went up so much, I was one of the ones who had to leave the state even though I was making $60k as a nurse. I won't make that mistake again and since I have been under each persons rule, I feel I can make an informed decision. Can you?? Are you basing your whole decision on Benghazi?? Then please tell me your thoughts on how Bush was warned 2x before 9/11 about an attack, yet ignored it and over 3k died?? Or the consulates that were bombed under George H W Bush?? Things happen with every president and sadly like with Bush Jr some are more tragic than others. Sorry I think Romneys record in mass speaks volumees if you care to read the article. I think you will find it enlightening, esp the Bristol Myers jobs he brought us and at what cost.

It is offensive to use the attack on the Consulate in Benghazi and the death of four Americans as a political commercial. There will be an investigation--just like after 9/11 and the murderers will be brought to justice-- just like President Obama ordered Bin Laden's elimination. Please tell us some reasons to vote for Gov. Romney; we already know all the attack lines used against President Obama. This is why I am voting for President Obama. President Obama says what he means and follows through; he doesn't change positions every two minutes. He is calm when a crisis occurs. President Obama has earned a second term through his successful efforts to clean up after the 8 years of Bush II despite the obstruction of the GOP Congress. Governing is not like running a business. Bush II proved that electing a business person who hates government to actually govern delivers poor results. (Gov Scott has certainly been a poster child for poor results in Florida!) If Obama wins , a very quick investigation .
If Romney wins , the truth will come out.
I am not using this forum as a political commercial.
I as an average American am using this chance to bring this to the forefront so people can discuss weather or not they want 4 more years of third administration.
How many more years do you plan on blaming Bush???

DLC,
You really have no faith in the investigation under any administration. I guess when they investigated 9-11 they found that the current administration at that time did no wrong. They were given no warnings. I'm sorry, I know a few people who are already investigating this and this is not something the administration has control over. What gets released will have nothing to do with which candidate is elected. Please do not insult the good men and women who protect this country daily with this dribble.

And for the folks who support Romney, he is no different........TYRANNICAL nature just the same. Romney "DAY ONE I will do this or that!" Really? With an Executive Order? I hate Obamacare more than any person for what it is doing to my finances, but I do not want a man believing he can do as he will.....Obamacare is passed legislation.......Romney is not a Dictator deciding what's good and what's bad......but ahhhhh, he actually said he WILL decide what's good and what's bad. DLC, I notice you didn't list the reasons for voting FOR Gov. Romney, just a quick-- and untrue-- jab at President Obama. That is what is getting old in this election. Tell us why you are supporting Gov. Romney. Which of his positions on FEMA do you like? Which of his positions on Iran do you like? Did you like him better as a pro-choice, union supporter when running in Massachusetts? Or do you like him better as a supporter of the Ryan budget, Medicare vouchers, the Blunt amendment and Mourdock? Do you like him outsourcing jobs to China or starting a currency manipulation debate? Which Gov. Romney do you support and why, DLC, average American.? BTW, the mess of the Bush II years is a fact, not an excuse. Have you seen President Bush II campaigning for Gov. Romney? No? Why do you think that decision was made? Recovering from the Bush II policies does take time, at least four more years for President Obama.

I can not imagine what "statistics" you have looked at that show Obama has stopped the economic free fall. It is just the opposite. He took a bad situation and through his lack of any meaningful experience or ability turned it into a full bore disaster. He grew the debt more than all the presidents before him combined. The job numbers are worse, the number of people on food stamps is much greater and he never produced a budget. Vote for him if you like but admit you are doing it on emotion and not statistics.

I cannot believe that anyone would vote for Obama. His track record shows that he is not qualified to be President. He not only wants to take God out of everything, he redicules our country, weakened the military to the point where other countries find us vulnerable, our debt has tripled since he took office. You say Benghazie should not be part of the political platform, why not? Where was Obama during this horrific act? They say the White House was informed weeks prior to the attack, why didn't they take precautions? Who sat in the situation room and watched our Ambassador and three brave men die? WHERE WAS OBAMA, in Vegas at a fund raiser, it was more important for him to go raise money for his campaign. HE NEVER takes responsibility for his mistakes, it's always everyone else's fault but his. HE'S A FAILURE - we need someone else to turn our country around. By the way, why does he have his college records sealed? He has spend millions of dollars keeping them sealed. Trump will give 5 million to the charity of Obama's choice to unseal the records, if you have nothing to hide and you are the President of the United States, wouldn't you unseal the records for charity? Once again, I say, If you have nothing to hide. WAKE UP AMERICA ......

Adella,
Where was Bush 4 months before 9-11 when he was told of the potential attack? I like how you are so quickly to attack one without thinking about the other. Some precautions were taken, obviously not enough. But do you really think the President makes those decisions. Do you know how many threats are processed on a daily basis against U.S. and our embassies. But you know what, the President alone is the person that can change all that. Do we expect the president to be Superman?
I assume you are also going to ask both candidates why they are at Campaign stops today instead of helping with the aftermath of Sandy.
I find people are quite convient in trashing a candidate about an instance in a vacuum.
As far as college records, all college records are sealed. Do you beleive your college records are not sealled. And I'm glad you feel for Trump's stunt, do you also believe him when he said that Michelle O. is going to divorce him as well. Trump got his name in the paper over something pathetic. If Obama had substandard scores, then that is on the Universities for excepting him.
I have no problem with people voting for Romney, Obama, Johnson, Barr, etc.. at least when you are "discussing" a candidate don't do so with mindless propaganda dribble.

Jerry,
I have seen statistics on both sides on this issue. It is all in how you manipulate the numbers. If you take the nominal statistics disregarding the seasonal work, there have been some improvement overall, but per capa of of the work force there has been a marginal dropping. So both sides are really accurate depending on frame your agrument. The markets are doing better slightly. But it is a global recession and niether of the two major candidates really have given us a plan to address the change in economic structure our country is facing.

See, that is the problem with getting your news from FOX TV or AM radio, you never know the actual names of places or like Gov. Romney you think Syria is Iran's way to the sea. And then, sometimes you can get the order of the prescribed attack points wrong so that the ugliest one gets thrown in the middle of your list. Much, much less effective that way. If you really are a Romney supporter, tell us why you are supporting him, not why you hate President Obama.

It was a republican that got us into the recession mess and increased our deficit beyond a quick repair and I think Obama is doing an outstanding job fixing 8 years worth of Bush spending...it takes more than 4 years to come back from a crippled economy (crippled by overspending republicans!). If it weren't for Obama stepping in when he did we were on a path to a devastating depression. And as far as Obama taking "God out of everything" you should respect the fact that the USA protects us as individuals with freedoms in a melting pot made up of all different religions and values and many agnostics as well...don't you think we all deserve to be treated equally in a country that separates church from state?...and I thank GOD for that!

Sure we have it but I guess you are going to blame Obama for the drought in the midwest or climatic problems around the world which effect our food prices! And Government freedom to search, arrest and yes jail you without a warrant was what Bush enacted. Where in the heck were you hiding? And two wars we fought which we can't pay for. Actually Obama hasn't changed America that much, there's no gun control, no gay marriage, and he's pretty much done whatever the GOP wanted him to do. And then Trump gets on Letterman and it turns out his clothing line is Made in China! And he said he didn't know? What mistakes has Obama made? We'd all love to know because so far the only mistakes he's made is giving in to the GOP! And turn off Fox News and Limbaugh for a change, you can tell that they have softened your brain. Comments without facts? Florida luckily was missed by this hurricane, but we all know that Florida isn't usually so lucky when it comes to hurricanes, so it is important to know where the candidates stand on FEMA. We can watch Obama in action right now, but how about Romney?

Romney dodging questions yesterday on FEMA:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/30/mitt-romney-fema_n_2044213.html

But here he is discussing how he wants to get rid of FEMA:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/28/mitt-romney-fema_n_2036198.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

And of course it wouldn't be a complete coverage on an issue and Romney's views, without bringing in the original flip flop of his days as Governor, when he opted out of financing this at the state level, but requested the national assistance...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/30/mitt-romney-flooding_n_2042886.html?ref=topbar

Just like on every other issue, nobody really knows what Romney really thinks.

Sara,
A lot of our worst presidents were successful business men. And a lot of greatest presidents were failed businessmen. The political culture is not the same as the business culture. Look at Rick Scott who can't get out of his own way. Romney was not a good governor which is the the only time he has been an executive in a political culture. So yes, it is a tough choice. Both major candidates are below average as an executive office of a political culture.

This is the neanderthal who used to stand alone at the corner of the school yard and say "wanna fight" to anybody passing by and when somebody said no, he called them a pussy, because he never realized just how inane his question was. Most people grow out of that, but there are still some knuckle draggers around like this who carry such thinking into their adulthood and now some of them can even operate computers well enough to post on sites like this. I actually think that it is best to let them simply rage away, because the vast majority of people (even people that otherwise might be ideologically aligned with him) find it vile and reprehensible. He does more damage to his own cause as a loud mouth Romney supporter, than anybody could ever do trying to lower themselves to his standard of copy/paste arguments that he regurgitates from chain emails and/or fringe conservative sites.

President Obama has been a busy bee the last two days, spending a huge swath of time with the press and in front of the cameras. Aside from using the White House website as his personal PR firm – putting out pictures of himself with the folks at FEMA and the Red Cross and in the White House situation room, and giving updates stating that he had “expressed his concern” and been informed “throughout the night” – Obama desperately wanted to visit New York City to let the photographers capture him overseeing the damage. He wanted his hero moment.

And Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City doesn’t have time for that nonsense. He’s actually too busy being the mayor of a city in major crisis to squire Obama around for his election campaign.

Today, Bloomberg rejected Obama’s offer to visit the city. “We’d love to have him, but we’ve got lots of things to do,” said Bloomberg. It was “fine” for Obama to visit New Jersey, Bloomberg said. “People understand the storm and he doesn’t have to … he’s got a lot of things to do.”

Republican Gov. Chris Christie had nothing but praise for Pres. Obama yesterday. “I have to say, the administration, the president, himself and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate have been outstanding with us so far. We have a great partnership with them." Christie said “I want to thank the president personally for his personal attention to this.” You may notice that Gov. Christie said nothing positive about Mitt Romney yesterday. Mitt Romney will be campaigning in Florida today while the President will be touring the devastation in N.J. and helping to coordinate relief efforts in the affected states. This shows the real differences between the two of them. Pres. Obama is an experienced, effective, and caring President who knows how to coordinate relief efforts for the victims of this storm. Mitt Romney is just another self-serving politician who will be in Florida today attacking our President.

Washington Post

David Ignatius raises the question about Benghazi today in his op-ed post today. When the Post sees a problem with the White House stonewalling for over six weeks, that is not good news for Obama at a critical time with less than a week to election day.

Ignatius writes, "The best way to establish the facts would be a detailed, unclassified timeline of events; officials say they are preparing one, and it may be released later this week. That's a must, even in the volatile final week of the campaign".

Curious minds want to know the facts. One minute Obama is killing bin Laden, the next minute he is hiding in the closet.

LT, It appears that you watch Fox News a little too much. Are you saying that the failed one-term Governor of Massachusetts could handle U.S. foreign policy better? On the only overseas trip that Mitt Romney made during this Presidential campaign, he managed to insult everybody in England by questioning whether they were ready to host the Olympics. The newspapers had a field day calling him "Mitt the Twit". They are still laughing at him. Romney showed that he speaks without knowing the facts. He then travelled to Israel with billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson where he insulted the Palestinians. His speech also showed a lack of understanding of the Palestinian conflict with Israel. During the third debate Romney stated that he generally agreed with the president's foreign policy. I think that you should believe what Romney said at this debate. He said that Pres. Obama's foreign policy is correct and that Mitt Romney would follow the same policies.

Obama's wild spending is setting the stage for an economic meltdown that will make the Bush driven economic chaos look like a Sunday Picnic.....is anyone concerned about our house of cards: i.e. our deficit spending and growing debt? If your 17 year old charges $250,000 on credit cards over 4 years: things might look pretty good: in fact I bet he had a real good time. The real question is how many years does it take to pay that new debt off. Poor kid, the next 10 years look pretty bad. In fact, he is probably screwed. You cannot spend your way to prosperity using money that you do not have. How many of you would step up to pay for the 17 year olds spending spree? How many of you can really afford to pay for the spending spree? Aren't we (America) the 17 year old? Side notes: Obama didn't take out Bin Laden, special ops did. They had been on the hunt for years.....It is rather disrespectful to personally take credit for that which you did not do. Of course taking credit for it certainly bodes well in the polls. Sadly, From my perspective, it is the lack of leadership both proposed and current that has us all so evenly divided. How do you invoke positive change when 50% lean one way and 50% lean the other way. That has always been an impass.....as in nothing changes. This election makes me very wary of what is to come.

Hey Robert, perhaps you didn't get good grades while you were taking civics lessons in high school, but just to refresh your memory it is the congress that holds the nations purse strings not the President. And as a service connected disabled veteran, I take offense to your denigrating our Commander and Chief. Perhaps, you also don't understand the basic structure of military command, yes the Seal Team completed the mission, but President Obama gave the command and that is a responsibilty not to be taken lightly by anyone. As to your 50/50 impasse that is the fault of our two party system. Divide et impera [Divide and rule] thoughout the history of civilization the ruling classes have always known a divided people are much easier to rule. And of course, the more divided we become in this country, the more the two major parties stand to gain.

David, I have an idea lets talk about things irrelevant, such as your perception of my grades....you are clear that the President proposes a budget to Congress? That the President pushes for ratification of his budget proposal? That our national budget tends to reflect the standing presidents proposal(s)? Be clear we are all aware that the president is also the commander in chief: my point is that Bin Laden was a target of our nations military long before Obama was at the helm. Further, every standing president would take credit for this effort: but in doing so, makes light of the men who actually did the job. It is interesting that you have no comment on what actually matters. Debt. That teenager. You cannot spend what you do not have. There is always an inevitable conclusion to such actions. We have all seen it first hand. Any positive programs built on an unsustainable program of spending will eventually disolve. At some point in the future we tumble. If we are talking about the history of civilzation: ask yourself if you have met any Romans lately? Ask yourself why......

Anti-liberal this is for you to ponder upon.

When one looks up the terms conservative and liberal in the Rodget's 21st Century Thesaurus they are likely to find some interesting synonyms.

For example, synonyms for conservative include: bitter-ender, bourgeois, controlled, die-hard, fearful, fogyish, fuddy-duddy, guarded, in a rut, inflexible, obstinate, obstructionist, old guard, reactionary, redneck, right-wing, sober, stick in the mud, timid, unchanging, uncreative, un-daring, unimaginative and white bread.

On the other hand, synonyms for liberal include: advanced, avant-garde, broad-minded, enlightened, flexible, free, high-minded, humanitarian, indulgent, intelligent, interested, latitudinarian, libertarian, magnanimous, rational, reasonable, receptive, tolerant, unbiased, unbigoted, understanding, unprejudiced.

At the end of the day, would it be fair to say we all know how Anti-liberal wishes to to defined.

Most conservatives today sound like Rush Limbaugh when they discuss politics. I have seen many moderates and liberals make well reasoned arguments in favor of Pres. Obama and often conservative responses have been that Obama is a "Communist", a "Socialist", a "Muslim", "Un-American", a "Foreigner", and "He's coming to take your guns away!" Unfortunately political discourse has now reached the level of today's conservative talk radio.

Dividing the people started with the Contract with America in 1998 by the Newly Republican Congress. The evils of Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party, they needed to bring America back. So both parties are extremely guilty of dividing upon partisan lines.
Just a thought why so many people are focused on what is dividing us, what do you think they are really doing to us in Washington? Have you ever wondered why the major corporations who benefit from the government play both sides, because in the end it is just two sides of the same coin.

That is why the disaster of the Bushmiester's trashing the economy has turned the corner & is soaring to sucess. Imagine how we might have recovered by now if the party of NO wasn't standing like a roadblock at every turn?
