Nude Man Baker Acted After Ransacking Apartment, Jumping From Window

Here is a look back at the Tampa Police Department's District 1 crime blotter for the last week.

Thursday September 13

  • A white male resident of the Hyde Park Pointe Apartments was behaving strangely which prompted another resident to call police about a possible Baker Act. The man kicked open the front door of an unoccupied apartment belonging to another resident, trashing the interior, stripping off and leaving behind his clothing and ID. He jumped out of a second story window totally nude and approached another complex resident. He snatched the neighbor's car keys which were dangling from his pocket, entered neighbor's car against neighbor's protests, and fled prior to police arrival. Police units later received calls about a nude male in the area of Adamo Drive and 12th Street where the man was apprehended and taken ultimately to Tampa General Hospital under a Baker Act.
  • A man in the 6700 block of Interbay Boulevard was struck in the head by a thief who took his wallet containing $110 in cash and his EBT card. The victim was unable to give a description of the assailant.
  • A residence on Packwood Avenue South was broken into through a sliding glass door. Among the items missing were a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma tv, another 25 inch LCD tv, a Canon Powershot camera, Macbook laptop, Sony DVD player, IPad 2, a suitcase safe and a SIRIUS satellite radio with a speaker. Detectives are trying to track the IPad.
