Food Truck Square on Platt Provides Permanent Home for Dining

Fans of Tampa's popular, roaming food trucks now have a dedicated place to get their grub on.

Several food trucks have joined forces to provide a more permanent spot where their customers can find them. They've started a "Food Truck Square" in the 1700 block of West Platt Street, next to the Monstah Lobstah seafood restaurant, according to Tampa Bay's 10 News.

Up to five trucks will park there seven days a week for lunch and dinner, the group said on its Facebook page. They opened for business Monday and are planning a grand opening on Feb. 23.

The initial group of food trucks includes The Killer Sammich Truck, Tasty Stacy, Burger Culture, Mr. Empanada and Wicked 'Wiches, with other trucks are expected to be invited in the future, 10 News reports.

Food trucks have become a cultural dining phenomenon in cities around the country, and Tampa is no exception. Rallies have popped up across the Tampa Bay area and gatherings like a . Mayor Bob Buckhorn on the first Wednesday of every month on Franklin Street in downtown Tampa.
