Detectives Searching for Bank Robber

The suspect robbed a BB&T Bank in downtown this morning, Tampa Police say.

Tampa Police detectives are searching for a man who robbed a BB&T Bank in downtown early Tuesday morning, March 13.

The suspect entered the bank at 400 N. Tampa St. at about 9:05 a.m. and stood in line while the teller assisted another customer. After the customer left, the robber gave the teller a note demanding money. The note implied that he had a gun, Tampa Police spokesperson Janelle McGregor said in a press release.

The teller provided the suspect an undetermined amount of cash.

Then, the suspect calmly exited the bank on foot and no one was harmed during the robbery, according to the release.

The suspect was described as a white male in his early 40s, thin build, and wearing a light colored polo shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who recognizes the suspect in the security camera picture is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130.
