Bayshore Blvd. Still Closed; Davis Islands Bridge Open
Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby have caused Bayshore to flood.
Bayshore Boulevard was still still flooded and closed to traffic as of 7 a.m. Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Bayshore was blocked off from South Rome Avenue to West Swann Avenue on Sunday because of flooding, according to Lt. Donny Peters of the Tampa Police Department.
There was no timetable for when the South Tampa street would reopen. Heavy rain is expected through Monday as Tropical Storm Debby churns in the Gulf of Mexico.
Motorists should be able to travel to and from Davis Islands after its main bridge was impassable for at least an hour early Monday.
"Our brave photog Ragene just came back from Davis Isl. All bridges open and much water has receded," TBO.com traffic reporter Leslee Lacey tweeted at 6:14 a.m.
Earlier Sunday, the bridge had been "impassable due to flooding," Bay News 9's traffic reporters tweeted.
