Soho Gets New Barbershop

Roosters Men's Grooming Center opened on South Howard Avenue this week.

South Tampa gentlemen have a new place to get a close shave right in the heart of Soho.

Roosters Men’s Grooming Center opened at the Shops on South Howard on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the same plaza that hosts Chipotle and Jimmy John’s.

Lakeland resident David Thompson chose Soho to launch the first Roosters MGC in Florida. The barbershop franchise started in 1999, and there are currently about 500 Roosters MGC nationwide.

“South Tampa is a very vibrant and active area where people care about themselves,” said Thompson.

The barbershop offers precision haircuts and shaves, complete with hot steam towels, deep cleansing and facial massage.

Here’s the list of services:

  • Roosters Club Cut - a precision hair cut with head massaging shampoo, hot steam towel, dry and style, a brush of powder around the neck and a splash of aftershave ($29).
  • Professional Hero Cut - a Roosters Club Cut with a special break for currently active military, police, fire and EMS personnel ($23).
  • Young Man’s Cut - basic hair cut for youngsters under 15 ($15).
  • For $23, Roosters MGC promises to make your head as smooth as a baby’s bottom.
  • Signature 7 Steps Facial Shave - hot steam towels, deep cleansing facial massage, moisturizing lotions, and a close shave ($20).

Hair coloring starts at $25, beard grooming is $12, and customers can receive a complimentary neck trim between appointments.

This week's special is a shaving and cut combo for $33. A percentage of proceeds from Roosters' first week of operation will benefit the local Child Abuse Council, a program that strives to stop abuse through prevention and education within Hillsborough County's families.

Roosters MGC, 533 S Howard Ave., suite 4A, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

To make an appointment, call 813-253-3200.
