5 Things To Know Today - Thursday, July 21

Good morning, South Tampa! It's July 21, and here's what's going on.

1. Get ready for Friday’s Martinis for Moffitt (7/22) at Raymond James Stadium. The elegant martini event raises money for Moffitt Cancer Center's work to prevent and cure cancer. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased at www.martinisformoffitt.com

2. The City of Tampa Parks and Recreation is offering yoga classes at the Joe Abrahams Fitness & Wellness Center, at 5212 Interbay Blvd. On Thursdays at 7 p.m., it’s Tri Yoga with Peggy Abreu.

3. A fundraiser will be held for Nancy Simms, leader of the American Victory Ship’s Propeller Club, to celebrate her being cancer-free for one year. The Seaport Sertoma and Tampa Marine Community will host a reception Thursday at the Columbia Restaurant. Tickets are $50. All proceeds will go toward Simms’ medical expenses. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. For information, contact Ashley Jasczak at 813-225-1918, ext. 23.

4. Hillsborough County is holding a series of public hearings to gather input on its upcoming two-year budget cycle. The next meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Florida State Fairgrounds. A copy of the county administrator's recommended budget for fiscal year 2012-13 is available online. Public hearing attendees should use the entrance on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to the Fairgrounds. Parking will be free for attendees.

5. Weather Watch – The thunderstorms will be isolated on Thursday, with a 30 percent chance of rain throughout the day. The temperature will hit 91 degrees; at night the temp will fall to 78.
