Statewide Summit in South Tampa to Offer Strategies and Resources to Nonprofits

WHAT:
2012 Summit on Community Development in an Era of New Challenges presented by Florida Alliance of Community Development Corporations (FLACDC).
With funding reduced and nonprofit agencies facing growing challenges in offering programs and services for community development, the FLACDC 2012 Summit will provide information, strategies and resources for nonprofits, their partners and stakeholders on how they can move their communities toward economic prosperity. Today’s nonprofits must rethink who they work with, funding resources they use, and how to best utilize joint ventures with for-profit entities in order to succeed and grow.
WHY:
The two day event features expert state and local speakers who will review the process and importance of understanding state policies and engaging the right skills, resources and certifications to promote and develop nonprofit agencies. Attendees will be presented information from nonprofit, community development, financial services and government perspectives. A partial list of speakers include:

• Dan Jurman, Executive Director & CEO University Area Community Development Corporation: Keeping the Community in Community Development
• Ken Reecy, Assistant Director, Division of Community Development, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity: An Introduction to the New Florida Department of Economic Opportunity
• Don Phoenix, Southern District Director, NW America: The Future of Community Development

Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11, 2012; 10:30 am – 5:30 pm
Registration begins at 9 am on Tuesday, April 10

HOW:
Registration for first person is $175 with each additional person at $135. Includes lunch.
Online registration is closed; walk ups are welcome.
